III International Forum of Young Librarians “Libraries and Sustainable Development of the Society” Lviv, Ukraine, April 12-13, 2018

Forum will be held on April 12-13, 2018 in Lviv, Ukraine (The Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytsky Center, the Ukrainian Catholic University). The best cases of library involvement into Sustainable Development of Society are going to be discussed during the Forum.

Forum partners are Library of the Ukrainian Catholic University, Publishing House ‘Summit Book”, Lviv Regional Library for Children

This year the major focus of the forum will be on Libraries & sustainable development of the society. The World Library Community has been actively involved in supporting the achievement of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Infrastructure, staff, involvement into the social life makes any library a key institution for achieving the Goals of Sustainable Development. Ukrainian libraries have all the necessary capacity and are able to make meaningful contribution to the global Goals of Sustainable Development.

However, lack of both awareness and information on good practices, which other libraries in Ukraine and worldwide are proud of, creates some obstacles for a wider and more systematic involvement to support the Goals.

The primary goal of the Forum of Young Librarians is to collect the best library projects that support the Goals in Ukraine and abroad.

This Forum is going to bring together young library professionals from different countries for one common goal - to share their vision and experience in creating a modern innovative library. This is an excellent chance to learn more about opportunities that young professionals have, as well as about new library projects; to exchange ideas and outcomes of library initiatives; to network with experts and prospective partners.

Therefore, we are looking forward to fruitful and inspiring presentations and discussions in the cozy atmosphere of Ukrainian libraries in a beautiful Lviv City.
